WHAT'S HAPPENING NOW

Yippee!  Summer is here!  Below are a few highlights ....

Edward was deployed to Iraq as a medic with the Alaska Army National Guard’s Bravo Company, 297th Support Battalion that went out on convoys doing logistics patrols.  He returned to Alaska on April 24th.  We sure are glad to have him home!

On June 15th, we took a four-wheeler trip through Hatcher's Pass with our adventure buddies, Debbie and Bob.  We had an absolute blast.  Because of late season snow fall, we had a few challenges, but that didn't stop us from completing a very memorable trip.

Charlie crosses the river before CJ.  After Charlie does his head-bobbing thing, did you see Bob doing his victory dance on the shore?

There are three worthy objects of interest in this picture.  Notice first, the size of the grizzly footprint when Debbie holds her hand next to it.  Second, you will see that the prints next to the grizzly prints are wolf footprints.  Thirdly, and most interesting, check out Debbie's Salmon Hat!  She is the patented creator of this specialty item that people can't get enough of!  Every hat she makes is uniquely different and exceptionally colorful.

The picture below is typical of our adventure on this day.  Bob's friend, Joe, is winching Bob's four wheeler out of the deep snow.  Ordinarily we don't have snow like this in June.

On June 28th, we attended the 2008 Arctic Thunder Air Show at Elmendorf Air Force Base.  The last time we went to an air show, Charlie and CJ were in a stroller, and I was burdened down with a huge diaper bag, a squirrely eight year old (Edward), and suffering from heat exhaustion.  No, we weren't in Alaska at that time; it was at Castle Air Force Base, California!  I can't express how much more fun it was this time.  I can't believe how much I missed.  Even Cameron had a much better time, and hopefully the boys will have better memories of this show.

I had also forgotten just how impressive our country's air power was.  There were several times when I was moved to tears of pride while watching the incredible arial demonstrations.

Cameron and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary this July.  Nothing could have been a greater gift that sitting across the table from our three boys while they jockeyed for elbow room!
