THRIANTA RABBITS
Sunrise Creek Farm is proud to present each of our litters of Thriantas! With bloodlines from Glen Carr, Sonja Lyons, Anne Ott, and Bill Mairs our efforts are paying off at the rabbit shows.

ABOUT THRIANTA RABBITS SHOWS CURRENT FAVORITES RABBITS FOR SALE
The THRIANTA RABBIT is an eye-catching, brilliant, red rabbit with fawn coloring under its paws and tail. The fur is soft, dense and medium in length. The ideal senior weight for this compact breed is 5 to 6 pounds.
Originating in the Netherlands, the Thriantas were further developed in Germany before being imported into the United Kingdom in the early 1980's. During the 1990's, the breed arrived in the United States from both the Netherlands and England. ARBA Secretary, Glen Carr, is responsible for the acceptance of the Thrianta breed in the Standard of Perfection for rabbits and cavies in the U.S. on February 1, 2006.
While maintaining our consistantly firey color, Sunrise Creek Farm is dedicated to outstanding conformation of these newly developing rabbits. We are focused on meeting the Standard in every way, but are especially proud of the short heads and thickly furred ears that our offspring sport with their short, smoothly rounded bodies.

Sunrise Lunar; a buck from BH's Redman and Pacific Jill. This boy already has 7 legs and was offered for sale at the Washington State Convention in June '08. He sold before the show began and is now owned by Ken Motz and family in Oregon.
In 2008, our family attended several shows that included the Alaska State and the Washington State Conventions. We had a great year that ended with a bit of tragedy that stopped us from showing so far this year. Hopefully our luck has changed and we are looking forward to the May 2nd show that is planned by the Alaska Rabbit and Cavy Breeders Club in Wasilla, Alaska.

In November of 2008, the Mat-Su Rabbit Club put on a show and made sure that Judge John Soper of Michigan had plenty of helpers.

The Holiday Show hosted by the Alaska Rabbit & Cavy Breeders Club was the last show of 2008 in Alaska. After Judge Scott Henninger finished his classes, he spent some time teaching card tricks to the tired out youth of the club. Ordinarily this time is spent teaching rabbit science and such, so this was a fun holiday change for the kids!
2009 THRIANTAS!
Just because we haven't been showing this year, doesn't mean we haven't been busy in the rabbit barn! I believe that we have produced some of our most promising animals to date and can't wait for them to hit the show tables. I tried to take some pictures today and was reminded of why we have to practice with our animals before we put them in front of the judges. What squirrely little rascals they can be!
Meet a couple of Sunrise Creek's latest Thrianta Rabbits:
Penny is exactly what we had hoped for when we bred her champion parents together. No snagging on the hips or feeling pin bones on this girl! She is round and smooth from beginning to end with color that goes deep and true. At nearly 6 months of age, this compact little girl weighs in at 5 lbs. 4 ounces. Update: May 2nd, Penny earned her first leg as a Best of Breed on Enlow Walker's table at the ARCBC Show!)
I wish I wasn't in such a jokey mood when I named this guy 'Bob'. He certainly deserves better. But Bob is my true buddy and pal on top of being good looking, fun loving, and a prolific father! He took Best of Breed at the last show we went to and we can't wait to put him back on the table again. At nearly 11 months of age, this handsome half Sunrise, half Mairs creation weighs a bare 5 pounds even! Update: Bob won another leg for Best of Breed under judge Nancy Richmond of Idaho at the ARCBC Show on May 2nd!)
Dream a little Dream: The ink isn't even dry in her over-sized ears, but I have a good feeling about this newest youngster. Her mother is a doe I purchased from Bill Mairs at the 08 Washington State Convention and bred to Sunrise Bob. Dreamy didn't have any choice about being so deeply and completely red. Her round little body and sweet nature make her a wonderful package to cuddle. Update: Dreamy won Best Opposite of Breed under judge Nancy Richmond on May 2nd!)

Rose had this beautiful litter of 6 in June of 2008. She was recently bred back to BH's Redman for a litter that was born April 7, 2009 and will soon be ready for new homes. Available for deposit on May 18. Three bucks and one doe. See our For Sale page for details. Sorry, SOLD OUT.

We also have a single buck kit from Sunrise Marianne and BH's Redman (also available for deposit on May 18). Marianne is the full sister of Sunrise Bob and earned her first leg before being bred and hitting the nest box. She will soon be reconditioned and re-enter the show scene. Two of her kits from this litter will remain on our farm and be offered later this year at the ARBA Nationals. Sorry, only one doe left.
SPECIAL BREEDING TRIO NOW AVAILABLE!
We have recently acquired another entire Thrianta rabbitry from our partner at Kar Mar Cavies and Rabbits. This overload of stock leaves us no choice but to let some of our favorite rabbits go in order to reduce our herd size before winter. I am listing a trio from our own barn while the new rabbits are adjusting and settling in. We are parting with Sunrise Dream Catcher, Sunrise Rose at Dawn, and Sunrise Sally.
Sunrise Dream Catcher is a litter mate to the above Sweet Dream. Born 2/7/09, he is out of Sunrise Bob (also above) and a lovely Mairs doe from the 08 Washington State Convention. He is of correct coat length, texture, color, and carries his color to the skin. He cannot be faulted for his coat. He has a fabulous masculine head that is broad and heavily jowled. His ears are short and spoon shaped, thickly furred. His shoulders are strong, his loin short, and is of very compact design. If I had to fault this guy, it would be to say that I would desire a smoother hind end. Age could easily take care of this issue. I am guessing that he will finish out at about 5 pounds 4 oz for a mature weight. (Dam's weight is 4-14 and Sire's is 5-0.) He appears to have the potential to be bigger boned than his parents. Currently he weights 3-12.
Sunrise Rose at Dawn is just what your rabbitry needs if you have any color challenges. Dawn carries her rich red color all the way to the skin and all the way around. She also has the darkest toenails I have ever seen on a Thrianta. Born 6/3/08 and weighs 5-12. Her dam is Grand Champion Irish Rose and her sire is Grand Champion Sunrise Lunar (photo at top of page).
Her strong points are her color, smooth hips, short loin, nice head, and well furred ears. Her faults are that her shoulders are longer than I would like and her pin bones can be felt. Her coat could be denser, but the length is good and her color is excellent. Dawn will be a real loss to us since she is the most outgoing, sweet natured, and affectionate doe we have ever had. Sorry, no longer available.
Sunrise Sally is is full littermate to Sunrise Bob. Born on 7/24/08, she weighs 5 pounds 11 ounces. She is a firm, athletic doe that should have been shown. Terrific color, nice head and ears, smooth over the hips. I would have liked to have seen her fuller in the hindquarters where her fanny meets the table, but everything about her screams SMOOTH. This lovely girl should be producing litters for someone's rabbitry.
These three rabbits would make for an excellent start for someone just beginning in the breed or make a great addition to an existing rabbitry. See our for sale page for more details and be sure to contact us with any questions. Sorry, no longer available.

Here is a wonderful picture of Jill as she prepares her nest for her latest litter.

Here is a peek at Jill's babies while they are still only a couple of hours old!
