BABY PICTURES                RABBIT CLUB LINKS

The THRIANTA RABBIT is an eye-catching, brilliant, red rabbit with fawn coloring under its paws and tail.  The fur is soft, dense and medium in length.  The ideal senior weight for this compact breed is 5 to 6 pounds.

Originating in the Netherlands, the Thriantas were further developed in Germany before being imported into the United Kingdom in the early 1980's.  During the 1990's, the breed arrived in the United States from both the Netherlands and England.   ARBA Secretary, Glen Carr, is responsible for the acceptance of the Thrianta breed in the Standard of Perfection for rabbits and cavies in the U.S. on February 1, 2006.

While maintaining our consistantly firey color, Sunrise Creek Farm is dedicated to outstanding conformation of these newly developing rabbits.  We are focused on meeting the Standard in every way, but are especially proud of the short heads and thickly furred ears that our offspring sport with their short, smoothly rounded bodies.

Sunrise Lunar; a buck from BH's Redman and Pacific Jill.  This boy already has 7 legs and was offered for sale at the Washington State Convention in June '08.  He sold before the show began and is now owned by Ken Motz and family in Oregon.

2009 ARBA Nationals in San Diego, California!

Woo Hoo!  North meets South!  Cameron and I traded our bunny boots and parkas for flip-flops and t-shirts when we headed to San Diego for the ARBA National Convention and Show from November 1st through the 5th.  We met up with old friends and met many new friends during the show and had a GREAT TIME!

In fact, we made friends with folks from as far away as Australia!  Meet John and Penny Pricket from the Australian Rabbit Breeders Association.  We met them in the Youth Barn when they were checking out the Thrianta Rabbits.

Below is the American Thrianta RBA booth.  Like our favorite breed, this booth did not lack for color, thanks to Anne Ott.  Here she is pictured in the middle with Marianne Mairs on the left and me on the right.

Since Charlie and CJ were at home minding the farm while their parents were out to play, Cameron had to accept their awards at the Thrianta Breakfast.  CJ won 1st place Sr. Doe and Charlie won 1st place in Fur.

All of the rest of the top Youth Division Awards were swept up by this lovely young lady from California.  I thought I would never forget her name because we were so impressed by her.  Alas, my memory is not as impressive as it should be and all I can remember is that her first name starts with a J and her last name is Beyer.  (She has a sister named Jessica.  Why can I remember that and not her name?)  When I remember, or someone jogs my memory, I will come back in here and fix this.  Help somebody!  E-mail me with her name, please.

"JASMINE" Beyer

(Thank you Sue for writing in and telling me.)

Also at the Thrianta Breakfast are our friends and tough competitors, Ken Motz, and Bill and Marianne Mairs.  We have fun hanging out and learning from each other.

The Does of Sunrise Creek

Meet our ladies....

Sunrise Penny is now over a year old and is exactly what we had hoped for when we bred her champion parents together.  No snagging on the hips or feeling pin bones on this girl!  She is round and smooth from beginning to end with color that goes deep and true.  She  has earned three legs (lost one to paperwork errors) and has had one litter.  I wish I could say she is a registered grand champion, but it would take a miracle to put her back into competitive condition after the nestbox.  We just bred her to Sunrise Bob for another litter that will be due about February 18, 2010.

Can you look at this picture and see a doe that needs breeding and doesn't want her picture taken?  This is Sunrise Red Chloe; a real sweetheart when she isn't in need of a little attention.   This lovely lady sports a full red wrap job, wonderful bone, and very compact body.  She is a registered grand champion with at least 5 legs.  She has been bred to Sunrise Bob and will be due to deliver in February.

Sunrise Marianne is one of the 'Fab Four' from last year.  I liked her the best and showed the rest.  Her other three siblings are all grand champions and even this matronly lady has two legs that she earned as a junior.  She is the mother of grand champion Red Hot, shown below.   She has been bred to Sunrise Rocket Man for a February litter.

This is a picture of Glen Carr registering Sunrise Red Hot after she won 1st place youth fur at the 2009 ARBA National Convention.  Red Hot is a grand champion and has recently produced a litter from Sunrise Bob.

Not pictured today are grand champion does Rose and Persimmon.  Rose can be seen in the movie clip below.  She isn't herding goats today because she is busy in the nest box again with a litter she just had by Sunrise Rocket Man.

The Bucks of Sunrise Creek

              Meet our little gentlemen....

You've heard plenty about him and now you get to see him.  This Grand Champion boy, Sunrise Bob, has turned out to be our secret to keeping our Thriantas well within their weight standards.  His first daughter, Sunrise Sweet Dream won 1st place Sr. Doe, youth division, at the 2009 ARBA National Convention.  The jr. doe we kept from his second litter just won her first leg this weekend.  These are just a couple examples of what he throws.  This little 5 pound buck's greatest assets are his absolutely fabulous bones and short, strong shoulders.

Sunrise Rocket Man earned his 3rd and 4th legs just this weekend.  All of his legs were earned as Best of Breed to boot.  When I send in his paperwork, he will also be a grand champion.  Judge John Soper was amazed by the heaviness of his bones for such a small animal.  He barely weighs 5 pounds at 7 months of age.  Probably the ony thing he has ever been criticized for is that he could use a fuller hindquarter, but I am hoping that maturity will do for him what it has done for me.  Ha ha!  He has already had two litters in the nest box with more to come.  His strongest suits are his sensational color and full wrap job as well as super bones and thick, short ears.

                    AVAILABLE in 2010!

I have litters in the nest boxes and litters not yet born.  Please e-mail me at seddon5@mtaonline.net to make inquiries about availability.  I do ship, but kits must be at least 10 weeks old so that they are mature enough for me to determine quality and be sturdy enough to handle transportaion.

At this time, all of my mature breeding stock is sold out.  (Post-convention blues!)  I will be retaining some stock to transport for sale at shows in the lower 48 at summer's end.  Keep checking back to see who that might be.

Please see our for sale page for prices and terms.
